Game: Math Functions

August 23, 2016 By Janice VanCleave

Example for Math Function used in Math Game.

A Fun Way to Learn Math

Adapt this game to kids of all ages by using only the math functions players are familiar with.

Materials
1 deck of cards for four players–(You can make your own card using index cards.  Note: The Ace from playing cards is #1.)
2 dice–-I suggest that you purchase foam dice so they do not make noise.

Rules
1. Each player has 10 cards, Ace through 10, with the Ace being #1. These cards are to be turn face up on the table. Cards for Math Game
2. Each player takes a turn at rolling the dice and decides which math function to use. For example, if five and four are the numbers showing, the player can add the two number and turn over card #9. Or, the two number can be subtracted and the player would turn over card #1, which is represented by the Ace if playing cards are used. Multiplying and dividing are not options for these two numbers. Note: If the player has already turned over card #9 and card #1, no cards can be turned over. The next player takes his turn.
3. The objective of the game is to be the first player to turn over all ten cards.
4. If you roll a double, you have the option of using the numbers or rolling the dice again.
